Clarence Clark, JD Woods Earn Heart Player of the Week Honors
BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – After capturing a 48-41 win over No. 9 Grand View on Saturday, two members of the No. 2 ranked Baker University football team earned Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, announced on Monday.
The NAIA’s all-time leading scorer, Clarence Clark, earned this week’s Heart Special Teams Player of the Week honor and freshman running back JD Woods was named the Heart Offensive Player of the Week, as the Wildcats move to 2-0 on the young season.
Clark was a perfect 6-of-6 on PAT’s and nailed two field goals from 25 and 23 yards out in the win over the Vikings.
Baker is now 3-0 all-time against Grand View and has won 19-straight games against a Heart opponent.
Woods had a huge day for Baker, as the rookie ran for 200 yards on 17 carries, good for a 11.7 yards per carry. He finished with three rushing touchdowns on the day.
The biggest run of the day came in the 4th quarter when he ran for a 97-yard score with 5:07 to go in the game. He also had six catches for 28 yards.
The Wildcats will look to move to 3-0 next Saturday, as they take on Culver-Stockton on Sept. 9 at 11 a.m., as the game for the second-straight weekend will be broadcast worldwide on the Watch ESPN/App, ESPN 3 and locally on KSMO-TV.
