No. 2 BU Hosts CMU on Senior Day

 

BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The No. 2 ranked Baker University football team will honor its senior class this Saturday, October 28 on Senior Day prior to the 1 p.m. kick off against Central Methodist inside Liston Stadium.

 

The 8-0 Wildcats are also a perfect 2-0 in the Heart Southern Division and play host to a 1-7 and 0-2 Central Methodist squad.

 

Baker has won 10-straight against the Eagles and have won 13-straight games inside Liston Stadium dating back to 2015.

 

Since the inception of the Heart Southern and Northern Divisions, Baker is 12-0 in Heart South contests and have won 25-straight games against a Heart opponent overall.

 

This senior class will go down as one of the best in program history, as they have posted a 41-6 record overall, earned Heart Championships in 2015, 2016, appeared in the NAIA-FCS Playoffs each of those seasons and finished as the NAIA National Runner-up in 2016.

 

CMU began 2017 with a 31-0 home win over Culver-Stockton on Aug. 26, but have lost seven-straight from that point.

 

Darrius Henton leads the Eagle defense with 9.3 tackles per game, which ranks No. 16 nationally.

 

Quarterback Caleb Bedford has thrown for 1,366 yards this season and has six different receivers with over 100 yards receiving this season.

 

Baker continues to rank near the top in the NAIA in several categories, including the No. 3 ranked scoring offense, as they have accumulated 426 points, averaging 53.3 points per game. Since 2016, Baker has scored more than 30 points in 22 of its 23 games.

 

JD Woods and Clarence Clark continue to rack up scoring numbers, as Woods and Clark have each scored 114 points this season, both ranking No. 2 in the NAIA.

 

On special teams, Nate McLaurin is climbing up the national ranks. He is ranked No. 2 in the country in total punt return yards with 182.

 

Defensively he is No. 4 in the NAIA in passes defended per game at two. He also leads Baker in interceptions with four.

 

Baker has 11 interceptions on defense this season with three pick-six’s, two from McLaurin and one from Grant Elston.

 

Baker also has two fumble recoveries for TD’s this season, coming from Josh Kock and Indie Allen.

 

BU leads the all-time series against the Eagles, 31-14, and hasn’t lost to CMU since 2006. They haven’t lost in Baldwin City to Central Methodist since 2005.
