Baker Football Retains No. 2 Spot in Top 25 Poll

 

BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The Baker University football team retained the No. 2 spot in this week’s NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 poll, announced on Monday.

 

The Wildcats are a perfect 7-0 on the season and captured its 24th-straight win over a Heart of America Athletic Conference opponent in its 48-14 win over rival MNU on Saturday in a game that was featured worldwide on the Watch ESPN App/ESPN 3 and locally on KSMO-TV.

 

BU is one of eight teams still undefeated throughout the NAIA; the other undefeated teams include No. 1 St. Francis (Ind.) 6-0, No. 3 Reinhardt (Ga.) 6-0, No. 4 Morningside (Iowa) 7-0, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) 6-0, Southern Oregon 6-0, Langston (Okla.) 6-0, Georgetown (Ky.), 5-0.

 

The Wildcats feature the No. 3 ranked passing offense in the country, with 2,488 yards passing and the No. 3 scoring offense in the country with 369 points scored, averaging 52.7 points per game.

 

The Baker offense is averaging 552.4 yards per game, which ranks No. 5 in the NAIA and the Baker defense has 21 sacks this season, ranking No. 7 in the country.

 

Also ranked in the Top 25 from the Heart includes, No. 6 Grand View and No. 12 Benedictine.

 

Baker has also won 13-straight games inside Liston Stadium and will next take on Avila this Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in Kansas City, Missouri. The ‘Cats are 15-0 all-time against the Eagles.
